In memory of

Catherine Margaret Mitchell

February 18, 1937 -  March 27, 2018

It is with profound sadness and grief that the family of Catherine Margaret Mitchell announce the passing of a beautiful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 81. Catherine was the cherished mother of Karen Mitchell, Scott Stacey (Heather), Christopher Mitchell (Teresa). Precious grandmother of Tasha Wilson (Anthony), Zachary and Spencer Mitchell, Joshua, Emma, and Sarah Stacey. Great Grandmother (aka) Ninja Granny to Novalee and Kalina Wilson.
Catherine was a kind gentle soul, a devoted friend to many, a music lover who loved to play a tune on her piano for anyone who came to visit. She loved a good laugh, her flowers in the garden and her faithful dog Tanahsy A heartfelt thank you to our sister Karen who was our mothers rock, friend, confidant, and most recently her primary caregiver who made her last few months easier.
Karen we will forever be grateful for the hard work, dedication and patience that you put forth everyday to keep Mum comfortable. It takes a special kind of person to step in and step up. For this we will be eternally grateful. A private family service will be held at Thornton Funeral and Crematorium on March 29, 2018.

On behalf of the immediate family I wish to thank all of you for your support in this our time of grief. A little about Mum. She began her life in Middlesex, England. She was the youngest of 3 daughters of Roy and Lillian Cowling, her older sisters being Pamela and Betty. She worked for the Post Office in England and later for O.H.I.P and the Bank of Montreal in Canada. She retired from Scarborough General Hospital after many years of service. Mom loved music and was an accomplished piano player, even playing professionally for awhile. Though often faced with adversity, she raised 3 children on her own with a loving, caring and sometimes stern (but deserving) hand! Mom loved sports. She enjoyed watching golf, soccer, hockey, curling and she had a wicked badminton smash! In her earlier years she loved horseback riding. One of her biggest challenges was her baking. Her well-burnt Danish hanging on the kitchen wall was a constant reminder of this. It was also the source of many jokes! Needless to say our Mom will not only be greatly missed by her immediate family but also by her extended family in England and by her many cherished friends. Scott
This is not goodbye…..but, until we meet again
