In Memory of Catharina (Leipsig) Willard

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Catharina (Catharine, Omi, Toos) Willard on Sunday January 29, 2017 at the age of 85. She embraced life to it’s fullest as a devout Catholic. Born in Holland, immigrated to Canada and worked at the University of Toronto. She shared a wonderful marriage of 58 years with her loving husband Jack.

Catharine will now join her husband Jack and her daughter Deborah in heaven. She is survived by her loving children Lucy (Jon) and James (Jessie). She was adored by her grandchildren Nicole, Taylor, Noah, Mya and by her family and friends. First and foremost, mom taught all of us the value and importance of family. She was an absolutely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her family gave her infinite joy. Catharine’s love for them was reciprocated on countless occasions through interactions and family gatherings. She always took months before Christmas to create, off the wall, one of a kind presents for everyone. Her sense of humor and her laugh were reflective of her vivacity and love of life. She took great joy in her daily morning exercise routines at the community centre with her friends and occasionally afternoon luncheons. She always took time out of her life to help others.

Goodbye mom, you will be deeply missed, sleep well, until we meet again. We shall always love you dearly.

Friends and family can be received at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1001 Ravenscroft Rd, Ajax, on Tuesday February 07, 2017 for a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. If sending flowers in memory of Catharina, please send them directly to the church. If you wish to make a donation in Catharina's honor donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Drie dagen voor je dood nog een lang telefoongesprek gevoerd.
Niet wetende dat het 't laatste zou zijn.
Lieve zus, je strijd is gestreden. Rust zacht.

Thinking of your mother by remembering her younger years with my mother, Jeanne (Sjaan),n her sister. Rich lives, both of them.
With sympathy, Caroline

I met Catherine several years ago at the Ajax Community Centre gym. We exercised side by side on machines and became friends. We shared many chats and some food.
I enjoyed her warm and loving nature and good humour. Even when we didn't connect at the gym anymore we stayed in touch through e-mail and phone.
My thoughts go out to all her children, grandchildren and sisters. I heard about you all and know how much Catherine cherished you.
Sorry we didn't get our last tea in Catherine. Next time we meet.
