In memory of
Caterina Ruvo
March 6, 1933 -
January 20, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Caterina Ruvo.
She peacefully passed away at her home, in her ninety-first year, with family by her side.
She was born on March 6, 1933, in Castelgrande, Potenza (Italy).
In a small picturesque village nestled between beautiful green mountains.
In February 1955 she married our father, the late Francesco Muro.
She was a loving dedicated mother and will be deeply missed by her four children:
Maria (Ambrogio), Luigi (Laura), Vito (Isabelle), Vittoria (Enzo).
She was a beloved “nonna” to Alessandro (Katherine), Leticia and Gabriel.
Predeceased by her parents Vito e Vittoria Ruvo and by three of her siblings:
Francesco, Giuseppina and Giovanni.
She is survived by her sister Antonietta (Domenico).
Predeceased by her brothers in-law Carmine (Margherita) and Antonio.
Survived by brother in-law Vito (Teresa), and sisters in-law Antonietta (the late Giacinto), Maria and Anna (Vincenzo).
She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada and in Italy.
Our mother was a woman full of energy, never sitting still and always on the go, whether it be
cooking delicious homemade meals for her family and friends or spending time with her
grandchildren teaching them to make lasagna, bread, pizza, cookies and yes … also knitting.
Caterina’s legacy will be remembered for being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.
Her willingness to always help others with her acts of kindness, compassion and generosity of
time, her strength and independence, her immense talent in tending to her garden that produced
delicious vegetables and for being an amazing cook.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Caterina, had an unshakable faith in God’s promises that soon by means of His Kingdom (a heavenly government with Jesus Christ as ruler) the earth will be transformed into a peaceful new world. (Psalm 37: 10, 11, 29; Revelation 21: 4, 5)
These promises were so real to her that, with great zeal, she shared them with everyone.
Caterina will be greatly missed, but this separation will be temporary, for the Bible speaks of Our
Loving Creator Jehovah as “a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him”.
(Luke 20: 38).
It is with gratitude, that the family extends a special thank you to their sister Vittoria and her
husband Enzo, for all the loving care they provided during the last few years of our mother’s life.
Also, a special thank you to doctors, nurse practitioner and all the personal support workers that helped us provide the best homecare to our mother.
In particular, thank you to Mohamed (the palliative home care nurse) for his compassion and making our mother’s final days comfortable.
Caterina Ruvo’s family wishes to thank you all, for your presence and loving support during their time of grief.
