It is with heartbreak and deep sadness that we announce the death of Carrie Ann Beck.
Carrie courageously fought a battle with cancer over the last couple of years while receiving care at Sunny Brook Hospital and most recently at Credit Valley Hospital.
Carrie is the much loved and treasured wife of James Beck, and the adored Mom of their beautiful daughter Elizabeth Ann, aged 18, an accomplished artist and a student of digital arts at Georgian College. Daily, they honored the memory of their son/brother Connor, who passed away suddenly in May, 2022 at the age of 19.
Carrie adored her parents, Ann Barclay, Mississauga, and Bryan and Nancy Perdue, Orangeville. Cherished memories made and love shared with her sister Nicole Smith, her husband Sheldon Smith, (niece Jasmin & nephew Marcus); and paternal brother, Luke Perdue. Carrie married into, and was lovingly embraced by a large closeknit family of Becks; George and Lisa (niece Sam & nephew Cole), Brampton; Wayne, St. Lawrence Nfld; Ron (nephew Rob, nibling Ever & niece Alexandra), French River; Glenn (nibling Jack & niece Claire), Grand Prairie, Alberta, and many Beck and Turpin Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Much love and kinship was shared with great friends, Richard and Donna Cabral (Brenden & Meagan), Brampton. We take comfort that Carrie and Connor are reunited in heaven and welcomed by her step-father Alex Barclay, Mississauga, her in-laws George and Catherine Beck (St Lawrence, NFLD), and sister-in-law Diane Lowe (nee Beck), Moncton.
Carrie was a devoted wife and mother who was constantly on the go. She was actively sports minded from bowling and baseball to charity walks/runs, and passed along her love for sports and art, ensuring her family never sat still. From hockey to karate, to community activities, road trips, travel, time with friends, parties, parades, to throwing the best backyard pool BBQs, there was nothing her family missed out on. Carrie was happiest when surrounded by or hosting family and friends.
Carrie had a rewarding 25+ year career in the logistics field, most recently as Branch Manager, Purolator Logistics. She was well respected by her team whom she was very proud of and enjoyed working with them every day. Through the years she had a wonderful mentor in Ryan Persaud, Sr. Director, Purolator International.
Carrie was artistically creative, an active gardener, a Lego enthusiast, and was fiercely driven in everything she did. No task or request for help, organizing the impossible, fundraising, school or sports committees, was ever met with anything less than 100% effort and her answer to any request was always ‘absolutely’. We will miss Carrie’s strength of spirit, her huge capacity to love, compassion and empathy, relentless positive energy, and her pure radiance for life.
The family would like to thank Dr. Teresa Petrella, Medical Oncologist/Director of the Clinical Trials Program, and the oncology team at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre for the excellent care and support throughout Carrie’s journey. We are also grateful for the more recent care received by the physician and nursing oncology team at Credit Valley Hospital, with a special thank you to Dr. Laura Harild, Palliative Care.
