In memory of

Carmen Marine Walters

January 12, 1944 -  October 25, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Carmen Marine “Pinky” Walters, who transitioned peacefully on October 25, 2025, after a courageous seven-month battle with lymphoma.

Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, Carmen’s remarkable journey carried her from the lush hills of her homeland to London, England, and eventually to Toronto, Canada, where she built a full and beautiful life surrounded by family and friends.

Carmen was the devoted mother of Michelle Exeter, Michael Williams and his wife Kemba Williams, and Dean Williams and his wife Andrea Peart-Williams, and the proud grandmother of Nicholas Zolderdo-Williams, Tenisha Tomlinson, Kristienne Williams, Ella Scott-Williams, Ariana Williams, Zoey Williams, and Carver Williams. Her family was her greatest joy and the heart of everything she did.

A woman of boundless energy and compassion, Carmen had a passion for travel and adventure. She explored the world with those she loved — visiting countries across the Caribbean, South America, the United States, Europe, and more. Had time and health allowed, she surely would have continued her journeys, discovering even more of the beauty this world has to offer.

Carmen’s kitchen was a place of laughter, comfort, and love. She showed her care through her cooking, her kindness, and her unwavering support for those around her. Her warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her — whether through her friendship, her generosity, or her infectious joy for life.

Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and connection that will forever live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she graced. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit and the light she shared will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Carmen, warmly referred to as Pinky, loved gardening as much as I did. So one of the many things we did together was garden. We loved to talk about and exchange flowers or plants. This experience took place summer of 2014 in Caledon, Ontario, Canada, where her son (Dean) and I lived with our family. The gardens on the proeprty were beautiful but overgrown and needed attention. Together we tended the weeds, the plants. Unknown to me at the time was Pinky's fear of snakes. Lo and behold, while gardening, she found a garden snake. She yelled out, "There's a snake!" as she flew down the very steep flight of steps in our poolyard, almost flying into the pool, which was another fear of hers. She did not like swimming. She refused to come back to the pool yard to continue gardening until I removed the snake. I had to capture it and take it to a nearby lake. Even with the snake removed, she was hesitant to join me in the garden, saying, "Where there is one, there is usually more." I convinced her there was no more, and so she joined me in the garden to finish the work. I did not dare tell her that, later that week, I found one in our pool cover. She was correct to assume that seeing one meant there could be more. They were the only two snakes I ever found on the property.
