In memory of

Bruno Biernat

January 6, 1932 -  March 28, 2021

Bruno Gottfried Biernat passed away peacefully at his home on March 28, 2021 at the age of 89.

He was born on January 6, 1932 in Munich, Germany, the eldest of three siblings including his brother, Guido (pre-deceased) and half-sister, Christa.

Bruno married his soul- mate and life partner, Lisa Stadlbauer in Munich, Germany on July 24, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 eventually making their home in Pickering, Ontario. Lisa’s passing in 2012 was a tremendous loss to Bruno and one from which he never fully recovered.

Initially employed in the camera business, Bruno later moved to Peg Perego, a family-owned Italian company based initially in Newmarket and then in Pickering that manufactured children’s carriages, strollers, car seats, high chairs and riding toys. He ultimately became President of Canadian operations, retiring from that company 36 years later at the age of 73.

Bruno and Lisa enjoyed travel and looked forward to their trips back to Germany and Austria. Bruno’s interests also included tennis, skiing, and cars. He was also an avid reader and animal lover.

He will be fondly missed by friends and relatives including his half-sister, Christa Neubacher and her husband, Franz, nephews Bernhard, Dietmar and Stefan who live in Austria as well as those who had a special relationship with him including Heather, Gerry and Peter Stuart and Allan Care of Pickering.

Sincere thanks are extended to Dr. Vance Tran, the Lakeridge Health Out-Patient Palliative Care team, VHA Home Health Care and Nurse Next Door who provided ongoing support and care for Bruno in honoring his wishes to remain in his home.

Cremation has taken place. As a result of Covid-19, there will be an online memorial accessible at www.etouch.ca.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region or the Lakeridge Health Foundation – Cancer Care Services.
