In memory of

Bruce Macdonald

June 5, 1927 -  April 24, 2018

“I am ready to meet my Maker - but whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter” - Winston Churchill

Bruce Macdonald, 90, passed on peacefully at Mount Hope Centre in London, Ontario on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, with his family at his side. Born in Oshawa, Ontario to John & Agnes (née Snook), Bruce worked at General Motors for 40 years and had a passion for building houses, making furniture, and tending to his garden. His family is heartened by the fact that Bruce has been reunited with his wife, Lydia, just in time to celebrate their 66th anniversary.

Left to honour Bruce and remember his love are his three sons: Bruce (Kelly), Robert (Gail), and Douglas (Vicki); his seven grandchildren: Mairi (Bryan), Meghan (Michel), Deanna (Frédéric), Alex, Shannon, Miya, and Cameron; his great-grandchild Marlowe; his sisters: Anne Davidson and Helen (Alfred) Wells, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers John, Donald, and his sister Lois. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tilly Da Silva and the staff at Mount Hope for their amazing care and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held on June 2nd at Thornton Funeral Centre in Oshawa. Visitation at 11am, service at 12pm, reception at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made to Parkinson Canada.

Our condolences to Bruce, Robert and Doug and their families on the passing of dear Uncle Bruce. Comforted to know that he has rejoined with Aunt Lydia. Special thanks to Doug and Vicki for their strength and compassion in his last year of his life as Robert and Gail had with both Uncle Bruce and Aunt Lydia in the years before. And to Bruce for flying back and forth from the west coast.
Love to you all

Whilst saddened by the passing of my favourite Uncle, I take peace in knowing that he and Aunt Lydia will be together again. I know also that they will be with my Dad, their brother-in-law and friend, and the three of them will share a story or two and many, many laughs.
Sending the whole MacDonald Clan love, light and blessings and wishing I could be there on June 2nd to celebrate his life with you all.
