In memory of

Brian McSweeny

August 3, 1955 -  February 15, 2025

In loving memory of Dr Brian John McSweeny
August 3, 1955-February 15, 2025

Brian passed after a 6-month battle with brain cancer.

Known as Doc to most of his friends, Brian was an emergency physician for over 25 years, but his real passion was music. He could be found at jams across the city chopping down the rhythm on his mandolin, or bowing through an Irish fiddle tune. He will be remembered by his curiosity of spirit and his love of a good laugh.

He loved music, and art, and above all else his children, Conor and Claire.

He is survived by his brothers Eugene, Kevin (Adele) and Shawn.

Doc, thank you for sharing your gifts with this world. Medicine, music, laughter, wisdom, your subdued and understated mein, you were a gift to all who crossed your path. I am grateful for the very many occasions to laugh and sing and commiserate we shared. You have left behind your greatest legacy in the children you loved so well. They do you proud. May your liberation be complete.

Brian and I shared a love of comic books, art and old film. We could talk for hours on these subjects- and did. I miss his quick mind and passion on many topics. He knew his stuff and he loved his kids. See you on the other side Brian.

Doc was one of a kind. Unique in so many ways. I rarely saw him without a mandolin in his hand. He was quite the collector of antiques and comic books. I was inspired by his art. He helped me and my family members navigate through many medical issues, for that I am eternally grateful.

Our thoughts are with you(Conor) Claire and the family during this tough time
You (Conor) and Claire have been a great support to your dad during this difficult time and should be very proud of yourselves for stepping into this position and making your dad know he was loved
