In memory of

Brian Douglas Birchall

June 15, 1948 -  September 9, 2022

The Birchall family is saddened to announce the loss of Brian; who passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2022 in his 74th year surrounded by his loved ones. Proud father to Christa, Andrew, Brendan and Michelle. Adored grandfather to Kaylee, Ezra and Chilaka. Brian will also be dearly missed by his love, Petra Leia and cousin ‘big sis’ Pat Hawthorne.

Brian graduated from the University of Toronto with a Chemical Engineering degree and worked in Risk Management with Mining Insurance. He loved to travel; from Safari trips, exploring Europe to camping adventures with his kids. A forever love affair with cooking and always had surprising ingredients; (almost) always successful creations. He was a self proclaimed foodie and loved trying new dishes with Petra. Always with a creative flourish Brian had an eye for unique creations; either found or created. Brian’s optimistic nature got him to enjoy every moment and was passionate about sharing these ‘sparks of joy’ with others.

A kind, caring, energetic man who always puts others' needs before his own. A man with many names; Brian, son, father, daddy-o, DDO, grandpa, teacher, lover and most of all friend. Brian will always be a part of those he loves because he helped support and create who we are today. Thank you for all you have given us. Now Brian has moved to his final role as guardian angel.

The loss of a parent is heartbreaking, especially one who has been a provider,
a strength, and loved so dearly. Our deepest sympathy, love, and prayers for the Birchill children, and family.

My condolences to all of you. I know you were close to your father so his passing will be especially hard. The memories you have of him will in time bring you joy.
