In memory of

Brenda Garrow

May 7, 1936 -  May 6, 2021

Brenda Roberts Garrow died in Toronto only a day before her 85th birthday of Covid-19. She leaves daughter Sarah, son-in-law Philippe Benayon, her boisterous grandson Anton and a hopeless bachelor son Patrick. She was predeceased by her husband, lawyer Jim Garrow fifteen years ago, and by her sister Pauline Waddell of Blackpool England. Brenda leaves her youngest sister Auriol Hamer of Oxford, husband Richard and nieces Emily and Sarah.

Born in Huddersfield near Sheffield, Yorkshire, she knew the Blitz and rationing as a child and was working in London when she met her husband and followed him back to this strange Colony where she raised her family and worked for MacLean Hunter. She might’ve been suspicious of this country when she arrived but she grew to appreciate and enjoy its way of life. She never tired of trying to cure her grandson’s vegetarianism but loved being shown any new photo of his travels or hockey exploits.. There was always a piggy bank being filled. Brenda could keep you honest to be sure, cut ya with a sideways look or a sly comment but was always generous and warm with people she’d only just met. We will miss her.

There won’t be a gathering lest we give this ugly virus more chance to cut lives short - please mask up, stay safe and cherish what you have.
