It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Bor Jee Lee on May 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, our father, David S. Lee (2017).

Mom was born on August 20, 1931, in a small village in Hoiping County, Guangdong China. She joined Dad in Canada in 1958 and found herself in a much different place than her homeland, where she didn’t speak the language nor understand the culture and disliked the strange food, but she and Dad worked hard to successfully take care of their growing family on limited resources. Despite the hardships, Mom was able to make a life for herself in Toronto’s Chinatown and developed a sense of belonging with her friends at the mahjong club and within the community.

She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and generous loyal friend. It was gratifying for her to see all her children do well in their own lives and was extremely proud of her granddaughters. A woman of quiet contentment, she was the happiest in the warmth of her home surrounded by family.

She is dearly missed by her 5 children, Fred, Edward, Isabel (Stan), Robert (Cherry), Carol (Bob) and her 3 granddaughters Victoria, Allison and Keona. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Lee, niece June and nephew Larry.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the medical team at Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care for providing such compassionate and supportive care during the last 6 months of Mom’s life.

Friends and family will be received at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough on Saturday June 7, 2025. Visitation will take place at 11am, funeral service at noon, burial to follow and luncheon at Very Fair Seafood Cuisine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care through the Sinai Health Foundation website sinaihealth.ca
