In memory of

Bo Li 李波先生

November 11, 1967 -  March 24, 2023

Bo Li (李波), 55, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023, after fighting pancreatic cancer for over two years. He is survived by his wife Juo-chi (Cathy) Chu; his children, Emily and Jessica; his sister, Chun Li; and his mother, Jiayu Liu. He is preceded by his father, Minghai Li.

Bo was born on November 11, 1967, to father Minghai Li and mother Jiayu Liu in Sichuan, China. He attended Sichuan Normal University from 1985-1989 where he studied Chemistry. In 1993, he immigrated to Canada to pursue his masters in Physical Organic Chemistry at Western University. Bo pursued a career in the pharmaceutical industry where he worked at Genpharm, Patheon, AstraZeneca, Apotex, GSK, and Sanofi Pasteur. He was known as an extremely hard-working and sociable man, making new friends wherever he went and always putting a smile on other people’s faces.

He met his wife in 1996 and got married in the summer of 2000. They raised their two daughters, Jessica and Emily Li, in Barrie and Richmond Hill. Bo will be remembered as an amazing father who loved spending time with his family and always provided his unconditional love and support. He never hesitated to put others before himself and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In his free time, Bo enjoyed fishing, exploring new walking trails, and cheering on the Raptors and Leafs.

Bo was a devout Christian and was baptized in 1999. He worshipped the Lord in the Chinese Evangelical Alliance Church of Toronto (CEACT), Barrie Chinese Christian Church (BCCC), and the Aurora Chinese Christian Church (ACCC). Relying on the leadership of the Lord Jesus Christ, along with the support of his family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the church helped him persevere through his battle with cancer. Bo is now in Heaven, reunited with his father and without pain or disease.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mackenzie Health Hospital and Sunnybrook Hospital for all their continued support.

My dearest brother Bo,
You have been a brave warrior, you fought pancreatic cancer with all your strength. No one can endure the suffering as you have. You ended your battle, but I know you are in a beautiful place in heaven, united with dad and will look after mom and all of your loved ones from above. There will be no pain and suffering.
Thank you for giving me 55 years of your love and support. I am grateful that I have celebrated so many special events together, fond memories will remain in my heart forever. I felt some comfort knowing that I was with you and supported you throughout your 2 years of fighting for pancreatic cancer, and was with you at the very end, holding your hand and saying final goodbyes. I know you are now in heaven with god, united with our beloved dad.
I love you and will miss you so much, Bo, there is a special place in my heart for you forever.
