In memory of

Beverly Diane Thomson

April 15, 1964 -  September 14, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Beverly Thomson on September 14, 2025. Beloved wife to Rob Dale, cherished mother to daughter Taylor (m. Max Ledger) and son Rob, treasured friend to many and respected colleague and mentor to journalists across the country, Beverly will be deeply missed by all. She is predeceased by parents James and Lois Thomson and brother Douglas, as well as in-laws Margaret and Bill Dale.

Beverly had an endless capacity of love for family and friends and recalled with great fondness her earliest friends from Camp Gay Venture and Lawrence Park C.I. She lived a life infused with kindness, curiosity and a sense of adventure. When doctors told Beverly in 2010 that she was likely to have two more years, she took things one day, one treatment, and one joy at a time, continually surprising her medical team and remaining committed to living life to the fullest and spending time in the places she loved, including at the family cottage on Kawagama Lake and on the mountain in Sun Peaks. Beverly defied the odds again and again, most recently gathering the strength to travel to Prince Edward County to witness and deliver a heartfelt speech at her daughter’s wedding, just three weeks ago.

Beverly was an inspiration and proof of the power of positivity. As an anchor at CTV Toronto, Global News and CTV News Channel, and as co-host of Canada AM, Beverly delivered the news to Canadians for more than 30 years with professionalism and empathy. She was appointed a member of the Order of Canada for her contribution to broadcasting and commitment to volunteerism, and was recently presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada. Beverly was also a firm believer in giving back, supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and countless others.

Beverly will be remembered not only for her many contributions as one of Canada’s most respected television news personalities, but also for her grace, gratitude and love of a good laugh.

The family will host a visitation at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, on Thursday, September 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Friday, September 26 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation.

There’s an extra ray of sunshine in the sky today.

Rest in peace, Bev.

Deepest condolences to the family.

A beautiful person inside and out who accomplished so much in her personal and work life.

Bev was a shining light in the social settings we shared over many decades. She always wanted to contribute in one way or another.

The resilience and grace she exhibited during her reoccurring health issues was inspiring. And she even found the time to listen and talk to other people who were facing similar issues.

I will miss you, Muskoka will miss you.

Many fond memories of family gatherings at the Dale's farm, making maple syrup, and Christmas party games. Beverly always had the brightest smile and most infectious laughter. She always thought of others - so much so that she asked veterans if it would be ok to get married on Nov 11!!
She will be greatly missed. Lots of Prayers to Rob, Taylor and Robbie and the rest of the Dale family.
Love eternally

To Bev’s loving family, my deepest condolences. With sadness comes a small moment of happy reflection as I recall the many conversations we had in far newsrooms or bright studios that ultimately always resulted in a good laugh and a great smile. It didn’t matter how little journalistic experience I had when we first met, Bev always made me feel an equal and for that I am forever grateful and appreciative.

I am so sorry to hear of Bev's passing. She and I were camp friends at GV and shared a cabin as JC's. I can still hear her laugh. She was the most positive and supportive friend a girl could ask for and it's one of my biggest regrets that we lost touch over the years. I am so sorry for those who loved her, and there were many no doubt. May your grief pass gently and I hope her memory will sustain you in darker times.
