In memory of

Betty Sheila Paradis

March 24, 1930 -  January 28, 2022

BETTY SHEILA PARADIS, RN, RM March 24, 1930 - January 28, 2022 Betty passed away peacefully in Mississauga Hospital on January 28, 2022 at 91. Beloved wife of Jim (late) for over 46 years; loving mother to Carolin (Michael) and David (Dorothée); loving grandmother to James, Emma and Sarah; loving sister to Beryl (late); and sister-in-law to Paul, Harriett (late), Donny (late); loving aunt to Jennifer, Susan, Joe, Cathy, Carol, Richard and Steven. Family was the core of her world and at the centre of her heartbeat. Betty often expressed her greatest wealth was the love she received all her life. She claimed never having lived a moment without being loved. Betty was born in England and trained as a registered nurse and mid-wife where she practiced before accepting a position in Canada. With a group of nursing friends, she emigrated in 1955 and began what was to be a two-year adventure lasting the rest of her life. She fell in love with her husband, Jim, and with Canada. For many years, her life was a tale between two cities: Montreal & Toronto and she loved both. Never having fully embraced Canadian winters, she was an avid reader, escaping the chill by burying her head in a book. For such a gentlewoman, the surprise was her taste in murder-mysteries. Betty thrilled at travel. With years of restrictions and rationing while growing up during WWII, experiencing fresh places was a joy. And passionate about the beauty of growing things, when surveying her garden, Betty would muse, "What would we do without flowers?" For those who knew the indelible ring of love Betty imprinted on hearts, please join her family at Meadowvale Cemetery Brampton on February 19, 2022. Visitation is 1:00 to 3:00, followed by a service. Betty supported many charities, but most precious were Covenant House Toronto and Operation Smile Canada. As much as Betty loved flowers, she loved people more. Instead of flowers, kindly consider a donation.

If you wish to join us virtually via webcasting, please visit Bettys memorial page, 10 mis before the 3pm service and click the live link above Betty's photo to view.

For the past 40 years every Spring,Summer and Fall, Betty and I would talk over the backyard fence. Anything from flowers, apple tree or how to grow beans, and of course the weather. The best neighbor that anyone could ask for. I am so grateful to have known such a special person. I will surely miss her. I know I will continue looking over the fence expecting to say hi.
