Betty Martin

August 14, 1931 -  July 23, 2021

Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Martin passed away on Friday July 23, 2021 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario Canada with her daughter Valerie Eaton at her side after a brief illness.

Betty was born in Warrenpoint Co. Down Northern Ireland to William and Elizabeth (Cissie) Irwin on August 14, 1931, the eldest of eight children.

Betty was the beloved wife of her loving husband, Leslie Martin who passed away on March 19, 1999.
Betty leaves behind her only child, Valerie Eaton and her son-in law Ron Eaton. She also leaves behind her sister Florrie Mc Kee, sister Noel Woods and brother Jim Irwin of Northern Ireland as well as her sister in laws Barbara Traynor, Mildred Lowe, Pauline Irwin and Debby Irwin-Fowler and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews in both Canada and Northern Ireland, who loved her dearly. Betty was predeceased by her bothers, Desmond, Billy and Bobbie Irwin and sister Sadie Burns.

Betty also leaves behind many special wonderful friends and neighbours (Bill and Debbie) who cherished and cared for her and took her shopping throughout her life after Leslie passed. Also, special friends Sheri and Sheila who comforted her and her daughter Valerie in the final weeks of her life.

The graveside funeral service will take place at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd., North York, ON M2N 5Z5 at 11 am on Saturday August 14, 2021. Section 8, plot #4138. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate Betty’s life and what would have been her 90th Birthday. Please keep in mind Social distancing and wearing a mask is still being practiced.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or to The Toronto Humane Society as Betty loved all creatures big and small.
