Born on March 6, 1951 and passed away at the age of 70 on January 5, 2022 surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital.

Devoted and loving husband to Abelina de Souza for 44 incredible years.

Extremely encouraging mentor and loveable father to Beverley de Souza, Brigitta de Souza and Braedon de Souza.

Thoughtful and always loving brother to Artie Desouza and Carol D'souza and their husbands Clifford Desouza and Merwin D'souza.

It did not take long for him to be reunited with his best friend and beloved Abbey. Eternally, rest in peace. Paradise has gained a once in a lifetime gem whose placement upon earth is irreplaceable.

All that remains are memories, teachings and creative instincts which will never be forgotten.

Bernie was a dear friend and I have fond memories of Bernie when we were studying at the University of Bath from 1970 to 1973. Bernie had a lovely sense of humour and brought a lot of joy to the class of 1973. We shall miss Bernie.
