In memory of

Beatrice Tang

October 14, 1921 -  November 24, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Beatrice, who passed away peacefully on November 24th at the age of 101. Survived by her loving sister Ethel. Predeceased by her siblings; Kee, Henry, Jennie, Jack, Harry, and Leona. Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1921. She was the middle child in a family of 7 siblings. She came to Ontario and moved in with her sister Jennie. She worked at the family restaurant, Nanking Tavern in downtown Toronto from the day the doors opened until the day the doors closed. She worked as a cashier and a coat check attendant. She made many friends and stayed close with family.

She moved in with her coworker Eva. They lived in a house in downtown Toronto. Beatrice loved to travel on the subway and walk around Eaton Centre. She eventually moved into a condo at Yonge St. and Shephard Ave. in Toronto. She was very independent and loved to explore the city.

In 2010, she moved into the Thompson House, a long-term care facility in Toronto. Here she spent the last 12 years of her life making friends and memories. Her favourite activities were playing bingo and getting her nails painted.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at York Funeral Centre located at 160 Beecroft Rd. Toronto, Ontario M2N 5Z5. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am and an interment will take place at York Cemetery (Section 28). In lieu of floral tributes, the family kindly asks that you consider making a donation to the Thompson House – Long Term Care Facility in Beatrice’s memory. Our family greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time.
