In memory of

Beatrice May Olsen

August 29, 1922 -  November 21, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Beatrice May Olsen on November 21, 2021 at home in Toronto, at the age of 99 years. Bea was the loving wife of Clarence ‘Ollie’ Olsen, and cherished mother to Nancy, Richard (Linda), Wayne (Gail) and Susan. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of her grandchildren, Jackie, Jeremy, Todd, Keryn, Ryan, Jennifer and Taylyr. She will be spoken of often to her great grandchildren, Benjamin, Lauren, Tyler, Bennett, Avery, Austin, Colton and Kensington. Beatrice was a trailblazer; a welder for the Royal Canadian Navy at HMC Dockyard in Halifax, a host at the Piccadilly Club and a cashier at Loblaws for many years, all while managing a household and husband with four children. Bea’s legacy will be her fierce love and devotion to her family, her enormous pride in her grandchildren and sheer delight in her great grandchildren. Rest In Peace. We will love and miss you forever.

I really don’t know where to start in talking about Aunt Bea … and she was an aunt to us, even though us MacDonald’s were not related to the Olsens!
Aunt Bea and Ollie, and their kids, were great friends, and neighbours, of the MacDonald Family on Bastedo Avenue … and she was a great friend of our Mom, Lois, literally for decades … dating from their time at the Picadilly Club. The two of them had such fun together, whether it was going to movies, or back in the day, playing cards with Johnny Diakiw …
And for us, the MacDonald Kids, the door was always open at the Olsen House, just two doors down, with Aunt Bea holding down the fort.
Bea loved her family with truly all her heart… She will be missed greatly by family and friends—but we have such tremendous, and fun, memories of her. And she leaves behind a rich family legacy, with grandchildren, and great grandchildren… We'll miss you, Aunt Bea ...

Remember watching The Easter Parade in The Beaches on Queen Street with Nancy and Beatrice at Quigleys many years ago. She was full of joy and laughter and an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. Blessings
