I knew Basil all my life. I shared MANY conversations with him over the years, from the merits of wooden boats, to our commonly held beliefs in things spiritual, and ethical... Mental health wasn't a topic popular with many, but, one-on-one, he taught me MUCH about what being a good, balanced man is all about.

I just watched his memorial service - a beautiful tribute to a beautiful human being. Chris, your message of Love captured your Dad perfectly. My best to you, Heather and your respective families.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Basil. He was a friend and our history's go back through to my mother Betty Jean-Marie; they attended the same church and were members of the same Young Peoples group. Many years ago, before I was married and still living in Toronto, Basil created an "a capella" choir group of which I was a member. We all had such fun and Basil was a great concert master. His delight in sharing music with us was evident. And his patience was long and generous. I always made a point of connecting with him and his wife whenever I had occasion to be at the church.

I know of late he had health problems but I also know he is now free of that pain. My condolences to his family. Your dad and grand-dad was a brilliant man, well respected in his chosen field and dedicated to mental health. He will be missed.

We just learned of the death of Dr. Orchard. He was a special man who did so much and in so many ways. Caring, dedicated and committed to making people better. We will always remember this genuine person. May his name and memory be a blessing forever.

Dr Orchard was an amazing doctor. I had many interesting conversations with him. He was a very nice man and I was sad when he retired although I’m sure it was long overdue.
Please accept my deepest condolences to his remaining children and grandchildren.
