In memory of

Barbara Monica Fraser

September 25, 1929 -  September 7, 2022

Barbara Monica Fraser, 92, a resident of Whitby, Ontario, passed away quietly, with her family at her side, in the afternoon of Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Born September 25, 1929, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to the late Francis James and Stanislawa (Stella) Monica (Dyczkowski) Cole. Her father’s occupation as a mechanical engineer required family moves that began in 1939 to Vancouver, British Columbia and then to Montreal, Quebec in 1940 where she completed her teenage years. Barbara met Frederick Clifford (Cliff) Fraser in 1949 and they married on March 11, 1950, at St. Augustine of Canterbury in Notre Dame de Grace. Together, they embarked on a move to Toronto, Ontario after Cliff was hired to commence business operations for State Farm Insurance. She supported him in various positions of increasing responsibilities after settling in Scarborough while volunteering at Scarborough General Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, church, and political races in her community along with raising a family for the next 60-plus years. Barbara had a passion for reading, travel, music, and gatherings with family and friends at their Napanee cottage while never ceasing to be interested in the people and the world around her. A caring, compassionate, and loyal friend, she always had an empathetic ear and would try in any way she could to help others in need. We will all love and miss her kind blue eyes, big laugh, and infamous warm smile that could not have been a better representation of who she was to her core. Beloved wife of the late Cliff, Barbara is survived and lovingly remembered by her children W. Paul Fraser (Nancy K.), Pamela Fraser (Drew), Cynthia A. Gray (Andrew G.), and Andrea L. Moran (Patrick M.). Nana to Lindsay A.K. Graham (Matthew J.), Philip C. Moran, and Elizabeth F. Moran. Great nana to Ethan F., Emma E., Abigail A., and Owen J. Graham. Dear sister to Frank J. Cole, Elizabeth M. (Gerald E.) Semmelhaack, and Brenda J. (William) Zimmerman. Caring aunt and loved deeply by many nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery (375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto) on Saturday, October 15, 2022. It will commence with Visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM followed by the Service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (webcast of the Service will be available 15 minutes prior). A reception will immediately follow with interment to be held at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the PEC Public Library (https://www.peclibrary.org/expansion/#donate) or the Toronto Public Library Foundation (https://tplfoundation.ca/all-ways-to-give).

It is with very much sadness that i write this note today on the passing of my dear sister Barbara.
I will miss her dearly as she was my best friend and mentor .
She was there for me when in need and enjoyed her humor and company throughout my life with her .
One consolation is that now she will be united with Clifford her dear husband who was the love of her life together in heaven ..
may OUR HEVENLY FATHER KEEP YOU NEAR HIM
and know that you will be missed by all who love you .

Barbara was my wonderful friend. She helped me to come to terms with life after the death of my husband, Paul. She was kind and helpful, full of laughter and good advice. She was indeed a beautiful person and I miss her.
