In memory of

Barbara Maria Carver

October 4, 1946 -  June 7, 2022

Barbara Maria Carver (nee: Smeets)
Born in Tilburg, Netherlands
Immigrated to Canada with her family in 1952

Barbara Maria Carver, 75, of Toronto, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 with her family by her side. Barbara was born in Tilburg, Netherlands, daughter of the late Anne and Gerard Smeets and sister to Edward (pre-deceased), John, Charlotte, and Robert.

Barbara was married to her husband of 47 years, Graham, who never left her side. She enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf and having great times with her many friends and family. Barbara was a wonderful mother to two boys, Cameron and Charles, mother-in-law to Rebecca and Stephanie, and a loving Oma to grandchildren, Colton, Charlotte, Harrison, Graham and Oliver.

She spent her childhood and adolescence in Brampton, Ontario and then became a registered nurse, first training at St. Joseph’s hospital in Hamilton and then taking positions at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto General Hospital, the Teddington Retirement Home and others. Barbara enjoyed her time working and helping both the young and old. Following her nursing career, she devoted herself to motherhood and taking an active role in the family business Cambridge Management Planning.

Barbara enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage on Skeleton Lake where she cherished her time surrounded by grandchildren. She spent the remainder of the year in Toronto and Florida making and keeping up wonderful friendships. Barbara lived her life to the fullest with kindness, humour and vibrancy. She added life to every party and energy to every room she entered. She was quick with a joke, loved to tell a good story, and was never shy to share her opinion. Barbara will be deeply missed by her immediate and extended family as well as her friends from around the world.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday June 17, 2022 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre. 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, ON M4T 2V8

With tears in our eyes I am having difficulty putting it into words about the loss of our dear friend.
I will cherish our times together during golf games, tennis, dinners, cocktails and luncheons.
Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest, her sense of humour and hilarious stories will remain with me forever.
With love,

We will miss Barbara and our many late afternoon golf sessions with her and Graham which often turned into dinner and wide ranging conversations. We could always count on her to respond when we texted that we were on the way to the club for a drink
and the fun that ensued.
We loved her for her sense of humor, her word view and the fact that she always knew what was happening at BPCC
