Barbara Wall (Nee Wojas) died peacefully with her family by her side on April 1, 2025, at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket Ontario at the age of 79.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Bill (William) Wall, the love of her life. She leaves behind her brothers, Steve and Paul, their respective spouses, Katharine and Michele, as well as her niece Helen and nephews Cameron and Kaiden.
Barbara loved cooking, planning, organizing and preparing for gatherings of friends and family, and loved seeing the people around her enjoying themselves. She loved to travel and camp. She loved people and tried to find the best in everyone. She enjoyed having friends stay with her for days or weeks at a time.
She was, along with Bill, an avid fundraiser for numerous causes including the food bank, homelessness, and cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.
She and Bill also cared for former racing greyhounds and enjoyed taking them for walks. Barbara had many dear friends, almost too numerous to count.
Ultimately, Barbara was stricken with ALS, a disease which eventually robbed her of the ability to walk, speak and swallow, finally leaving her bedridden. In Barb’s own words, “If I’ve had the opportunity to say goodbye, I’m grateful. If I missed the chance, I’m sorry, but I’m gone now”. Barbara lived life to the fullest, and left on her own terms. She was brave and funny to the end. Her sense of humour was such that, even with the end inevitably approaching, she could laugh and stare death in the face. She will be missed. The world was a better place when Barb was alive, and is a little emptier now. Rest In Peace.
