In memory of

Barbara Ann Holland Miles

July 15, 1931 -  June 9, 2017

Barbara Ann Holland Miles – Born July 15, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Gordon Holland and Ethel May Stratton, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Ontario, in her 86th year.

Dear sister of the late Catharine (George) Barber and the late Evelyn Ruth (Donald) Brown.

Cherished Aunt of Dan Barber, Peter Brown (deceased), Wayne (Kim) Brown, Michael (Jane) Brown and Joan (Warren) Hunter.

Loving great-Aunt of Dwight (Penny) Brown, Jenifer (Chris) Neilson, Graham (Tanya) Brown, John, Paul and Mathew Brown, Celine and Ulana Hunter.

A special Aunt to numerous great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Starting her career as a switchboard operator at Bell in the 1940s, Barbara was also a welcoming face and voice for Maple Leaf Mills, Reed Stenhouse and Cineplex Odeon where, not being one to retire for long and enjoying the status of being one of the oldest employees, she continued for a few hours each day until 2015. She was a faithful member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 60 years.

Barbara shared her abundant generosity, humour, grace and kindness to the very end.

Always the keeper of a bottomless cookie tin in the office and 'Slipper Aunt' at home, Barbara will be deeply missed by her many friends and family but will forever remain in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place. In memory of Barbara, those who wish may donate to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. A graveside service and interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on July 15, 2017, leaving from the Cemetery Office at 3:00 pm. Conducted by Rev Canon Dr Alice Medcof. I'll miss our reception chats, the bottomless cookie tin and the special occasion York peppermint patties . Her family was very important to her and I got to know the various characters over the 8 or so years I knew her . She in turn also showed an interest in my family . She was just a good person and I consider myself lucky to have known her . God bless !

I will miss you and our chats Barb! No matter how many times you said to me - that they had added more steps in reception - you still made me smile.
Your cookie tin, helped me when I got hit with the mid-afternoon munchies!

Rest in peace Barb!

Barb was the first and last smiling face you saw coming to and leaving work each day. Heaven now has a welcoming gatekeeper, and someone to connect our calls for us in the afterlife.

RIP, Barb! We miss you!
