I'm deeply saddened by the loss of my mother-in- law Barbara. Her warmth and grace made an impact on everyone she met. She was a remarkable person, and her kindness left an indelible mark on many lives. My heart goes out to my wife and extended family who are now mourning and finding some comfort in the beautiful memories they shared with her.

My memories of Karen's mom will stay with me forever. I first met Karen, and the Haunert family when they lived in Halifax 40 years ago. Mrs. Haunert was so kind and always interested in what was happening in my life. I enjoyed a wonderful visit to their home when they lived in Ottawa. I loved her cooking! I will always remember the chat she and I had in my hotel room at Karen and Dragan's wedding reception, when I stole her away from the festivities--much to the chagrin of the wedding photographer! She was indeed a remarkable and courageous woman, whom I admired greatly, and it hurts to know she is no longer with us.
My husband, Luciano, and I send heartfelt condolences to Mr. Haunert, Karen, Dragan, Christine and her family. We share in your sorrow.

It is with great sadness the passing of my beautiful Mother, and how courageous she was with her battle with cancer. As her caregiver, I enjoyed spending so much time with her over the last year, but I couldn’t do it without the support of my husband Sam and my 3 daughters. Her grandchildren Siena, Chiara, and Bianca meant the world to her as they also felt the same for her. She is our hero, and we all miss her so very much. We all love you so very much, and life is truly not the same without you. You were an amazing Mother, and Grandmother and live on in our hearts and soul forever.
