Audrey Imrie
August 3, 1932 – November 23, 2023

On November 23rd, 2023 the world lost an amazing woman when Audrey Jackalene (Wallace) Imrie passed away unexpectedly in Toronto following complications from surgery. She filled her 91 years with a strong sense of independence that she maintained to the end, still proudly living in her condo, and just recently retiring from a lengthy executive assistant career. While our hearts are truly broken, we take comfort in knowing that she lived her life to the fullest spending time with her family and friends, dedicated to her work and enjoying her passions of reading, travelling, cooking, discovering new restaurants, going to the movies, the theater and for drives in the country.

Born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan on August 3, 1932 and raised in Lockwood and Smiley, her teenage years were spent in Dominion City and Winnipeg, Manitoba before moving to Vancouver, British Columbia. It was on a boat trip up to Ocean Falls to work for Crown Zellerbach that she met Janet Wylie who would become her life-long friend. Embarking on what was to be a travel adventure, the two ended up in Toronto in the mid- 1950s and she took a secretarial job at Deloittes which was where she met Edward (Ted) Imrie. Married in 1958 they eventually settled in the west end of Toronto and spent 45 years together until his passing in 2004, moving to Whitby in 2009 to be closer to her family.

Predeceased by her husband Edward Imrie, parents Joseph and Marguerite Wallace and special aunt Amy Wallace, she is survived by her son Peter Imrie (Kym) of Port Parry and grandchildren Matthew Imrie (Jess) and Meghan Imrie Buzaki (Mike) and great-grandson Noah Buzaki; daughter Diane Imrie (Kathryn) of Thunder Bay; brother Keith Wallace (the late Janet) and numerous nieces and nephews, who recall their Aunt Audrey with great fondness, including her nieces Carolyn Hitchinson, Caroline Meyer and Karla Hewitt who were fortunate to have been able to spend special times with her over the past few years.

A private family service has taken place in Toronto at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated. In her memory read a book, enjoy a good restaurant, explore the world and never stop learning new things.
