In memory of
Audrey Caroline O'Hara
Audrey Caroline O’Hara (Gillespie)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Audrey Caroline O’Hara, Wednesday morning May 24th, 2023, at the age of 87 at Oak Ridge Port Perry Hospice. Audrey was a beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother (Nama), Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister-in-law and friend.
Audrey was born on March 11th, 1936, in Minden Hills - Haliburton, Ontario, to loving parents Joseph & Ruby Gillespie. She had a brother Gerald and her sisters Marie and Bernice.
At an early age, (18) Audrey decided to leave her small hometown and move to the big city Toronto. This is where she met Gilbert O’Hara and were married in 1958. Gil took care of his loving wife Audrey for the past 5 years; Gil was by her side till the end with care and love.
Audrey and Gilbert had 4 boys together:
David (Jeanette) granddaughters, Jade, Sydney, Lily
Michael (late Betty) grandsons Jake and Cole, granddaughter Meghan (Adam) great grandson Harry.
Late Gary (Anne)
Brian (Jasmine) Grandson Andrew, granddaughter Holly
Granddaughter, Dustynne (Fraser) great grandson Zane
Grandson, Tyler (Monique)
Audrey was a strong positive supermom to 4 boys; she was never afraid to take on the daily challenges that her boys brought home each day. (There were many)
Audrey was a passionate woman, kindhearted, always was positive with life. There was no such thing as a bad day with Audrey, she never expected anything and never had a negative thing to say about anything or anyone. Audrey would always put a smile on your face. She loved animals, loved having a fur baby of her own and many grand fur babies. She would enjoy watching everyone’s dogs when asked. She never said no.
Audrey cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her many golf games with the grandkids and watching the girls with their daily dance recitals. Audrey spent a lot of time with all her grandchildren, the boys always called Mom to fill in to watch over all their kids, Audrey gladly came to the rescue. Audrey also enjoyed watching hockey, her quiet time to enjoy reading the daily newspaper, a good book and her bible with a glass of wine.
Audrey enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf with her girlfriends, gardening, going for walks in the forest with her grandchildren and dogs, spending time up at the cottage, and Florida in the winter. Audrey and Gil had many friends, often getting together Friday evenings on different patios in the neighborhoods of Aurora…especially their lifelong friends Norm and Barb Rumble. Audrey loved and cherished having all the family at the O’Hara fortress cottage.
Audrey had many lives these past 5 years. Many times, Audrey declined but then bounced back with a vengeance. Audrey our mom was the best Mom, we will miss her as she was the rock in our family…we love you. Gil, Dave, Mike, Brian, and late Gary.
