Athena passed away peacefully on Sunday February 6 2022 at the age of 81. Her love and generosity will be greatly missed by all.

Athena was born in Barbados as the third child to Cecil and Ismay Griffith. She then moved to Canada with her late husband Ashton Briggs where they set up roots in Pickering, Ontario and raised their family.

Athena is survived by her four sons:
Roderick, Hugh, Christopher, Mark, their wives and eight grandchildren: Renelle Briggs, Riley Briggs, Grayson Briggs, Dixon Briggs, Addae Briggs, Nia Briggs, Daniel Briggs and Brooklyn Briggs. She is also survived by sisters Correlle Graham and Euretha Hayde.

Private funeral scheduled for Sunday February 13 2022 at Simple Alternative @ 11am followed by a reception at West Shore Community Centre.

Pastor Theodore Sargeant will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend the funeral and celebrate Athena’s life via the following Zoom link (see below).

Nance and I send our deepest condolences to the entire family. We had great conversations with both Ashton and Tina over the years they live across the street from us. Tina always had a smile on her face when she greeted you. Rest in Peace Tina. You will be sadly missed.
