In memory of

Athena Dervenis

December 21, 1929 -  July 17, 2021

DERVENIS, Athena (Nee: Panopoulo)

It is with great sadness that the family of Athena Dervenis announce her passing. Athena Dervenis, 91, peacefully passed away in her sleep on July 17th 2021.

Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in her union with The Lord and her family. We honour Athena by celebrating her life and achievements. We will forever cherish our memories of her in our hearts. Find comfort, she is never truly gone. Athena lives through us by the lessons we learned from her that we use in our lives and pass on to future generations. She will always be looking down and praying for us, now from heaven instead, forever the center of the Dervenis family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Peter, Mary & Christina; her grandchildren; Aaron, Athina, Amber, Elizabeth, Michael-George, Billy & Joshua; her 4 great-grandchildren; her godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and everyone else whose lives she touched.

She is reunited with her husband George Peter Dervenis (d.1974); mother Dimitria Kosmatos, Nee: Yitsou (d.2005); her Father Yianni Panopoulo and Stepfather John Kosmatos

A funeral service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery (625 Birchmount Rd. Tor, ON M1K 1R1) on Monday July 26th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Please meet in front of the main building at 12:45 p.m. for a procession to the ceremony site. However, the burial site where the ceremony will be held is walking distance from the building. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to bring their own chair if they cannot stand for the ceremony and to bring an umbrella for rain or shade, as the full funeral service will be held outdoors. Please dress comfortably for the weather, formal attire not necessary.

Yaya is such a beautiful and loving lady and will be missed greatly. I will miss her garden tips, I did learn alot from her when she used to show me her garden. Then there was egg wars, what great times and memories, egg wars wil never be the same. Midnight mass with lit candles in the car, didn't know what I was getting into, lol. I love her dearly and so sad she is gone from my life but never from my memories. There are some great people to look after her in heaven.
