Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa in his 83rd year on September 24/2021. Loving husband of Jackie Assenheimer. Proud father/step father to Karen, Sherry Lynn, Roger, Debbie, Kathy, Laura Lee, Susie. Grandfather/great grandfather to many and remembered by his extended family and friends home and abroad.
There will be a celebration of life Sunday October 3/2021 at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre for the immediate family from 9:00am to 11:30am.

Papa John was a fun loving man who always knew how to make a joke in any situation. I never knew any of my grandfathers but he certainly knew how to fill that void.

Papa John, thank you for making feel like part of the family. I hope you still have that mischievous smile on your face wherever you are. You will truly be missed.
