Arthur Mets passed away peacefully, Friday May 31, 2024 at Ehatare Retirement Home in Toronto.
Beloved husband of Almi (Laht) Mets predeceased. Dear son of Peeter and Mina Mets predeceased. Predeceased by siblings Aleksander, August, Maria, Viia, Roosi, Ella and Arnold. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and other family members.
Arthur led a full life. He was born in the Baltic country of Estonia. In 1944 during World War II, Arthur’s parents sent him along with two of his siblings Arnold and Roosi on a boat to escape to neighbouring Sweden. Arthur was 17 years old at the time.
Estonian became a communist country. Arthur would never see his parents again.
He lived and worked in Sweden for 5 years, and then came to Canada and moved to Toronto where he started working 1950. He met Almi and they were married December 24, 1955. Arthur was a hard worker with an amazing work ethic.
Arthur and Almi enjoyed a wonderful fulfilling life together. They spent their summers at their beloved camp in Peterborough. And later in their retirement years spent long summer holidays at Saaremaa, Estonia, his home country.
We would like to thank all the staff at Ehatare Retirement Home for the love and care they gave Arthur while he was there. They made his last few years on this earth happy ones.

There will be no funeral service. There will be a small family ceremony at the Civic Cemetery in Sudbury where Arthur’s ashes will be laid to rest.
