In memory of

Arthur Karantjas

March 20, 1948 -  July 21, 2022

It is with deep sadness and much love we announce the passing of Arthur Lindy Karantjas, surrounded by family at 74 years of age on July 21, 2022. Beloved husband of Ann Karantjas (nee Berendsen) for nearly 50 years. Loving father to Nicholas (Jennifer), Julia (David), Elliot (Bo San), and Gabriel (Jennifer). Proud Dedo to Theodore, William, Charlie, Gordon, Frederick, Naomi, and Sophia. He will also be greatly missed by his University of Waterloo Engineering family, extended family, and many friends.

Art grew up in Toronto with his sister Jeanette and parents, Faye and Lindy. He proudly attended the University of Waterloo and graduated with a Masters of Civil Engineering along with a lifelong crew of friends. Some of his notable projects include Roy Thompson Hall, Windsor Casino, and a portion of the Eatons Centre. He married the love of his life, Ann, in 1972 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, and together they raised their family in North York. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and immensely enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family watching them swim, play at the beach and on the swing set.

Many will cherish the time spent playing cards or backgammon, boating on the lake, watching his unparalleled water skiing skills, and his knack for always puttering around the cottage finding some sort of job to do. He will be remembered by all for his warm smile and hugs, kind spirit, and quick-witted sense of humour.

Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres on Tuesday, July 26th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 27th at 2pm at the above location with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson's Canada in memory of Arthur Karantjas would be appreciated by the family.

I am so sad to hear about Art passing. I will always carry the memories of being a child up at the cottage and Art swimming under the water and would come up just before all of us and would scare us...we actually loved it even though at first it scared us..he was so funny and a very kind soul.

May you now rest with the Lord in peace. ❤️

As one of Arties group of close friends from our university days and time spent up north Arthur will be sourly missed by all. My heart is saddened by Arts passing. I send my heart felt condolences to his family. Just remember when we think of him and the great memories that we shared, Art was loved by all that he touched including myself.
