In memory of

Arcadia Betco

November 5, 1936 -  September 26, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our dearly beloved, Arcadia Betco, mother to Cesar (Bituin) and Rowena (Michael); grandparents to Anne Marie (Antonio), Mark (Pamela), Adam (Lisa), Kristine (Leonardo), Nicole (Jayson), Abbey (Shane), and Sharina (Long); great-grandmother to Yvonne, Gabrielle, Miguel, Mia, Isabella, Keegan, Ylleana, Leila, EJ, Connor, Yves and Aria; survived by her sisters Erlinda, Iluminada and Bienvenida.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Almario; daughter Joyceline; siblings Lucila, Africa, Valiente and Herminia.

Arcadia is more commonly known as Candy or Mommy Deng. She was born in Pampanga, Philippines to Fausta Galang and Leon Cruz. She was a successful entrepreneur in the food industry and photocopying services at the Bureau of Customs in Manila. She and her husband migrated to Canada in 2002 and lived in Brampton, Ontario. She passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023 due to liver cirrhosis with her son and daughter by her side.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to all the staff at the Palliative Care Unit of William Osler Brampton Civic Hospital most especially to Drs. John Davey, Aveksha Ellaurie and Marian Chen; Nurses Sukhi, Elizabeth, Crystal, Mimesh and Dhivya; Nursing Aid Jenny and PSW Marlene for their most exemplary and compassionate care.

Your life was a blessing to us all, Mommy Deng, and even though you may be gone from our sight, you will be forever in our hearts.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

In Mommy Deng’s memory, family and friends will gather for a viewing at Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton on October 6, 2023 from 4pm-8pm. The next day, October 7, the Funeral Mass will commence at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church also in Brampton. Reception to follow.

Mommy Deng will be missed by the whole Family.
She lived a whole life, caring for others all the time.
"When she was very sick she asked if she could live in Haliburton until she died."
She would sit out on the deck looking into the peaceful lake. She always complained,
"kakain nanaman"? (translated, "time to eat again?")
I will miss cooking for you.
We love you and will forever keep you in our heart.
