In memory of

Antonios Stavrou

January 17, 1933 -  May 27, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Antonios Stavrou, 91, on May 27th, 2024.

Born in the small village of Drenovo, Greece on January 17, 1933, Antonios spent 10 years in Poland where he earned his Millwright before returning to Greece where he met his soulmate and late wife, Polixeni. In 1965, they made the journey to Canada and settled in Toronto where they raised their family.

Antonios had a strong work ethic, who was devoted to his family and worked hard to create a better life. He truly connected with people, making for gatherings with family and friends full of fun and laughter. He will be remembered for his witty jokes and big heart. He is survived by his two sons Denny (Linda), Bill (Janet), daughter Bessie (Mike), by his five grandchildren, Magdalene, Joshua, Alexandra, Anthony and Kristo, sister Sophie and many other beloved relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the Ajax/Pickering palliative care team for their exceptional care and support. A special thanks to Dr. Borchuk who ensured his comfort and well being at home was possible over the last 5 months. We’d also like to thank family and friends who showed their love and supported for our father and the family. All services will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery on Saturday, June 1st. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by the service and burial.

Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
