In memory of

Antonio Francisco Rego Eleuterio

October 24, 1948 -  January 6, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Antonio Eleuterio on Monday, January 6th, 2025. Antonio passed at home surrounded by his loved ones in Brantford, Ontario at the age of 76.

Born on October 24th, 1948 in Lagoa, São Miguel, Azores, Antonio lived a life full of love and kindness. He was a great role model, sharing stories, his love for soccer, and showing his family continued support throughout his years.

Antonio worked as a Tilesetter for over 20 years and took pride in his dedication to his craft. Outside of work, he found joy in playing soccer, being Benfica’s #1 fan, and spending time with his family.

Anyone who knew Antonio, knew his passion for soccer! He played for Clube Operario Desportivo, Rosario Lagoa, S. Miguel Azores, where he became the Azores Champion, propelling him to the São Miguel Select Team. When he moved to Canada he played for Clube Operario Desportivo de Toronto before moving onto the Veterans team. After a successful playing career, he went on to coaching both clubs, passing on his love and knowledge of the sport.

Antonio was the cornerstone of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, cherished by his loving wife of 52 years Maria Lurdes; his sons, Marco (Carol), Paulo (Nasaria), and Aldo (Lia); and his grandchildren, Alexander, Mackenzie, Christopher, Lucas, Katherine, Liam, and Maya. He will be missed by his brothers and sister, Beatriz (João), Gilberto (Ema), Carlos (Lucy), Jose (Paula), Mario, and Eduardo (Rita), as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 12:30pm, at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating the life of a man who meant so much to so many.

If possible, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Your support will honour Antonio's memory and contribute to advancing cancer research, supporting patients, and finding a cure. The family kindly encourages you to spend time with your loved ones, as Antonio always did.

Antonio will be remembered for his warm smile, kind eyes, and loving heart. His memory will live on in the stories we share and the lives he touched.

Dad is with us every single day, and I think that his spirit lives on in all that we do, and that's something that I hold really close. My father was an extraordinary man. He'll always be my family's superhero. A great father an amazing grandfather, my best friend. Love you Dad
