Anthony Martins

October 24, 1932 -  October 21, 2023

Anthony “Tony” Raphael Edward Martins
October 24th, 1932, to October 21st, 2023

Surrounded by the love of his family, Tony peacefully went to the Lord, on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at Michael Garron Hospital, just shy of his 91st birthday.
Tony will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carmen, his adoring daughter, Genevieve (Stephen), and his three precious grandchildren, Jacob, Troy, and Adam. His passing is a tremendous loss to his brother-in-law Moses (Ninette), and sisters-in-law Franci (Tony) and Annunciation (pre-deceased brother Stephen). He was a darling son to the late Sebastian and late Feliciana Martins and dear brother to the late Manuel Martins (late Cecilia) and late Philomena Noronha (late Bento) and loving brother-in-law to the late Tiburcio (late Teresa). Tony was cherished by all his nieces and nephews and treasured by his friends across the globe.

Tony was a man of great Roman Catholic faith. He has left a legacy of tremendous kindness and deep compassion. He will be remembered for his gentle being, unassuming wisdom, and patient approach to life. Tony’s life was dedicated to serving others. He was a shining example of true humanity.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 27th from 4-8 p.m., at the York Cemetery and Funeral Centre (160 Beecroft Road, North York, M2N 5Z5).

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 28th at 12:30 p.m., at St. Edward the Confessor Parish (75 Churchill Avenue, North York, M2N 1Y8). The burial will follow at the York Cemetery and Funeral Centre. Afterwards, a Celebration of Life reception will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Parish Hall.

Our prayers and heartfelt sympathies to Carmen, Genevieve and family on the huge loss of Tony, a humble, pious man, wholeheartedly devoted to God, his family and others.

I got to know them both on meeting Carmen at the Royal Bank in the 1980s. We struck a friendship that lasted years. Prayer warriors, Carmen and Tony piously prayed for all in need of Divine intervention; remembered birthdays, anniversaries, again in love and prayer.

Carmen, may God give you the strength to cope with this HUGE loss as you both were a perfect example of God's love to each other and many.

Tony, dear friend, rest in peace.
