In memory of

Anny Wai Kwan Lo

June 14, 1940 -  August 31, 2023

Anny Wai Kwan Lo
1940 - 2023

After a short illness, Mom returned home to God peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Mom was born to the late Chow Hok Sing, her father and the late Cheun Hok Yuen, her mother, both from ShanDong, China. Mom was the 5th born in a family of 8 children. In 1948, her family moved to Hong Kong where her father found success operating a laundrymat washing British naval officers' uniforms and clothes.

Mom was a stay at home mom until she came to Canada in 1974. For someone who had never had a job, she hit the ground running working at least 2 jobs for much of her working life. A typical day saw Mom working at the Philco Ford factory from 7am to 3pm, come home, cook a restaurant quality dinner, then go to her evening job banquet waitressing at The Prince Hotel. Working weekends at the hotel rounded out her 7 day workweek.

Mom is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond She-Ngam Lo, her son, William Lo (Catharine Redfern Lo), daughter Janet Lo (Perry MacDonald) and the late Dora Lo (Sean Symons) and her grandchildren Katelyn Redfern Lo, James Redfern Lo (1995-2016), Lauren Symons, Justin Symons and Julia MacDonald, her sister Connie Chiang, brothers Chow Chi Tak and Chow Chi Kwok and her 18 nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her Sisters Chow Lai Wan, Chow Chi Kuen, brothers Chow Chi Shing and Chow Chi Leung.

We are grateful our parents got to be together in the same Long Term Care Home for the final weeks of our mother’s life. Many thanks to all the caring staff at Mon Sheong Long Term Care Scarborough especially Vivienne (2nd floor South) and Social Worker, Kit Ying Chan. They were instrumental in reuniting our parents in our Mom’s final weeks of life.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:30pm at Elgin Mills Cemetary, 1591 Elgin Mills E., Richmond Hill, L4S 1M9. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Canadian Cancer Society.
