In memory of

Annette Colosimo

August 3, 1943 -  February 17, 2023

On February 17, 2023, Annette Joyce Colosimo passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep. She was a youthful age of 79, and her unrelenting love for life was with her right until the end. Annette was born in Thunder Bay and decided at a young age to set out for big city life in Toronto. She quickly built a community of life-long friends whose best memories had Annette at the heart of them. She started a career with Bell Canada where she would remain until her retirement. Annette moved up the ranks fearlessly, often the lone female in the room. She helped move glass ceilings in ways that only Annette and her unique personality could.

Her greatest achievement in life was without doubt her two beloved children Anja and Aaron. Not a conversation was had where she wasn’t beaming about their accomplishments, sharing a funny moment, or expressing appreciation for something they had done. With the birth of her cherished granddaughter Maya, the phone calls and conversations became longer, filled with the joy and pride she brought to Annette’s days.

Annette had a wicked sense of humour which paired well with her contagious laugh - so distinct that it will remain as one of the strongest memories we have of her. She was never short on stories of her free-spirited ways, and her quick wit always kept others on their toes.  While she never shied away from the spotlight, her caring and generous presence always made you feel seen, heard, and understood. She carried the weight of many lifetime challenges, especially with her rheumatoid arthritis, but she was a bionic powerhouse who always found a way through the pain and the tears. For those times when life became a little too hard, in addition to her family, she had a devoted community of friends near and far who were always there and for which she was so grateful.

Along with her children and granddaughter, Annette leaves behind her dear brother Edward, beloved sister Mary and favourite son-in-law, Ziyad. All now feel the heaviness in their hearts that her unexpected loss has brought.

At times wild and unabashedly bold, Annette always stayed true to herself and never passed up a good round of fun.  But this time, she left the party much too early ……. which is definitely a first!

My sincere condolences to Anja & Aaron, and all their family. Annette was taken too sudden, too soon. She was always so good in keeping in touch with everyone and had a great outlook in life. She had a heart full of love for everyone, especially her family. I will surely miss her 💖.
