In memory of

Anne Nichols

March 25, 1932 -  July 13, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Nichols (nee Kralisz) in her 91st year on July 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Anne is predeceased by her loving husband Howard. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Sue (Cindy) and her son Wayne (Angie). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Chris (Emma), Nicole (Shawn) and great grandson Maxwell. Lovingly remembered by her sister Jenny Befrene (predeceased Chuck). Cherished by her nieces, nephews and close extended family and friends.

Anne lived a full life! She worked for Ontario Hydro and left when she decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Later taking a job as a lunchroom attendant at Hilltop Middle School. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whether that was picking people up to go to church or volunteering in the community. Anne will always be remembered for twenty-years of extensive volunteer work with Traveller’s Aide located in Terminal One at Pearson International Airport and canvassing the neighbourhood on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Anne will always be remembered for her infectious laugh which always lit up a room and of course her love for chocolates. Anne was an amazing cook and baker; her pork chops, potato salad and banana bread were reproduced by many but mastered by none. She loved hosting dinner parties, and the annual Christmas Eve open house was always a hit with extended family and neighbours. Anne loved 5-pin bowling winning several trophies in her league; going for walks and attending Tai Chi classes to stay active. During the winter months, Anne could be found every Tuesday night at her bowling league and once a month there was always a Euchre tournament going on. Anne enjoyed going on bus trips to Casino Niagara to play the slots until her mobility forced her to stay local, that however did not stop here from attending her favourite activity, BINGO, every Thursday at the West Acres Senior Centre. When she moved into Chartwell Scarlett Heights, she didn’t miss a beat and was able to attend BINGO twice a week and the odd Euchre game.

A special thank you and gratitude to the staff at Chartwell Scarlett Heights where Anne resided for the past five years. The family appreciates the care and support that Anne received by the Chartwell nursing staff, personal support workers and Doctors Haji and Hamboyan.

Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday August 3, 2023, at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, Scarborough.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation which will commence at noon, followed by a service at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be appreciated by the family honouring any of Anne’s favourite charities: Alzheimer Society of Canada; Canadian Cancer Society; or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
