In memory of

Anna Stegmann

March 8, 1924 -  February 13, 2023

Anna passed away gently and peacefully in her 99th year. Anna, daughter of Margarete ( Gretchen ) and Anton Deboy, immigrated from her beloved homeland of Germany in 1959 with her husband Sebastian (predeceased) and daughters Irene, Monika and Anita. The family quickly grew with the arrival of Michael (Mariana) and Peter (Jane).
Anna loved working with her hands. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed custom drapes until her late seventies. She enjoyed growing flowers and harvesting her vegetable garden and baking.

A devout Catholic, Anna practiced her faith for half a century at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea in Port Credit. She enjoyed the Catholic Woman’s League and was known for her Linzer Torte at their potluck dinners.

Over time Anna’s family grew again. She was blessed with ten grandchildren who knew her as Oma, Nigel (Danielle), Dane (Lisa), Scott (Hannah), Christine (Alex), Emily (Max), Alex (Isabelle), Benjamin, Robert, Matthew and Jessica. Anna was also a great grandmother to Sophia and James. She will be remembered for her love of sweets, love of sewing, and love of family.
Anna will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Chalice.ca in Anna’s memory. It is a charity that works in impoverished communities to help families overcome the cycle of poverty.

I was so sad to hear of your Mom's passing. I have many fond memories of our families' neighbourly friendship that spanned decades filled with laughter, guidance, food, wine and a deep respect and love for one another. I may still have a few drapery samples from your Mom's workroom. She was always so generous in passing them on to me to make doll clothes. She was the one I went to for help with my first attempt at drapes and duvet for my 'grownup' bedroom. She was a lovely lady and I will miss her. My heartfelt condolences to you all. Love, Mary
