In memory of

Anna Riddoch

March 29, 1939 - September 15, 2023

On September 15, 2023, after a wonderful and full life, Anna Riddoch (nee Borgstadt) passed away peacefully at home. Anna was in her 85th year and in May of this year she celebrated her 57th wedding anniversary with John Riddoch, her devoted husband. She leaves countless memories and stories to her beloved children Ian (Dawn) and Heidi (Milan).

Anna adored her grandsons, Scott, Colin, Michael and Aric. Her role as Oma brought out her playful and mischievous side.

Anna was predeceased by parents Heinrich and Lammertje Borgstadt (nee Steenbergen), her brothers Herman, Walter, Bernardo ‘Bernie’ and sister Brunhilda ‘Hilda’. Leaving behind her sister Margaret, brother Verner ‘Vern’ (Ann) and sister in-law Eldetraud ‘Trudy’ along with many nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

Anna was born on March 29, 1939 in Bad Salzuflen, Germany. At the age of twenty, she joined her two older brothers, Bernie and Vern, to start a new life in Toronto. This is where she would meet her future husband, John Riddoch. John and Anna tied the knot on May 6, 1966 and settled in Scarborough, Ontario where they raised their children.

Upon their retirement, John and Anna became snowbirds, escaping the cold and snow for a few months each winter. They enjoyed the warm weather and developed many good friendships. John and Anna travelled to their homelands of Scotland and Germany in addition to many other destinations.

A huge part of Anna’s enjoyment was cooking and baking for her family and friends. Everyone looked forward to her culinary delights. For over thirty-five years, Anna also loved spending time at the trailer in Buckhorn and considered it her little piece of heaven.

She will be greatly missed by all!

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
