Peacefully passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday August 12, 2022 at the age of 74. Beloved mother of Drew (Shannon), Beth (Dave) Hunter, Christopher, and Sarah and dear Nana of Clara, Adelaide and Spencer. Sister of Jane Hillier and Sue Zielinski. Daughter of the late Jan and Mairi-Christina (nee MacLucas) Zielinski. Born in Weston-super-Mare England and immigrated by boat with her parents to Canada in 1954. Anna started her career in food and nutrition as an inspector at a cheese and chocolate factory and then used her talents as a home economics teacher. Anna loved being a mother and enjoyed promoting many aspects of parenting. She was a dedicated La Leche League Leader who advocated for the acceptance of breastfeeding mothers. An avid homeschooling parent, Anna helped promote and became an advocate for alternative schooling. She was an educational leader who was profiled in both a book and documentary about homeschooling. Anna returned to the University of Guelph as a mature student to become a family therapist and helped countless families and individuals throughout her career. After retiring, she returned to her roots fostering children in need of a loving home. Anna’s love of pets (especially Lucas and Bolt) and the country (Brooklin and Bancroft) continued throughout her life. She spent many summer weeks with her family on the beach at Pinery Provincial Park. Anna’s humor, sense of justice and love of being a mom will be fondly remembered by those she touched.

A private celebration of life will take place at a future date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the North Hastings Community Integration Association.
