In memory of

Angelo Hadzis

February 25, 1932 -  March 9, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Angelo Hadzis announce his passing on March 9th, 2023 and he was 91 years old. He lived a long and full life and was healthy up until the few months before his passing. He was scheduled to come home from a rehab facility on March 9th after getting a knee infection, but instead unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep without suffering.

Angelo was a true father in every sense of the word . . . kind, loyal, protective, stable, practical, hardworking, honest, strong, supportive and reliable. His role as the father not only extended out to his son Nickolas and daughter Effie but to his siblings, family members and friends. He came to Canada from Greece in 1951 and then sponsored many family members to follow.

Angelo was an incredible chef and former restaurant owner who left a legacy of delicious recipes and the love of food behind. His daughter Effie co-created a digital cookbook with Angelo featuring 21 of his best recipes from a master chef. Angelo’s daughter also was his caregiver the past year and loved nurturing him, being an advocate for his health and well-being and bonding in a relationship that was so special and dear to her heart. She came full circle to reciprocate the same fatherly and motherly energy he had given her throughout her life.

Angelo’s children feel very fortunate to have had him in their life for so many years and will cherish the wonderful memories they experienced together for eternity! Rest in peace without any pain Papa! We love you to the moon and back!

Effie & Nick,

I was so very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of your Papa. I know that you both loved and respected him dearly. Undoubtedly, the days, months, and years ahead will be filled with moments of grief, pain, emptiness and sadness but always cherish the fond memories that you shared with him and allow these moments to provide you with the strength and the courage to uplift your spirits knowing that he is in a much better place. My sincere condolences are extended to you both during this difficult time.

Love, thoughts and prayers,
Dwayne Thompson
