In memory of

Angelika 'Angela' Arvanitis

June 18, 1937 -  January 26, 2024

Angelika "Angela" Arvanitis was born on June 18, 1937 in Germany. She passed away on January 26, 2024 at 86, after a lengthy and hard fought illness.

Angelika came to Canada for a year to learn English, but on one fateful night at the El Mocambo, met the love of her life Steve Arvanitis. They married and settled in Don Mills, where they raised two children, Sabrina and John. Angelika lost her husband suddenly in 1986 and was left to raise both teenagers on her own. Steve also left a thriving Greek Cheese business, which Angelika helped run and ultimately sell to Kraft Foods.

Angelika loved her family and was especially proud of her grandson Steven and her granddaughter Alexandra (and her granddog Max). They will miss their Oma immensely. Her Don Mills neighbours held a special place in her heart as well and she thought of them as her family. Angelika will also be deeply missed by her sister, brother and nieces in Germany, her children John and Sabrina and their spouses Sophie and Karl.

The family would like to thank her nurse Sami for his amazing care over the past few years, the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, her dedicated caregivers, doctors and all her friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you to consider a donation to Sunnybrook Hospital.

My sincerest condolences to John and Family and Sabrina. Angela was the sweetest, kindest and smartest woman and I will miss her and our long conversations immensely. We spoke often and after a quick update on markets and finances, our talks always seemed to go on about family. She was wise and compassionate. Rest in Peace Angelika - it was so lovely to know you.
