Andrew Kmecz

May 9, 1937 -  April 29, 2024

It is with great sorrow that the family of Andras Andrew Kmecz announces his passing on Monday April 29, 2024.
Andras is lovingly remembered by his wife Elizabeth of 56 years; his son Andrew, wife Shirley and their son Matthew; and his daughter Anita, her husband Todd and their children Evelyn, Emerson and Eric. Andras was predeceased by his parents Jozsef and Anna, sister Annuska and his brother Jozsef. He will also be missed dearly by many relatives in Hungary.
Andras was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada in the wake of the 1956 revolution. He both met and married Elizabeth in the month of August 1967, in his hometown Szabolcsveresmart. They raised 2 children in Toronto, endeavouring to give them a well-rounded education. Andras worked as a successful engineering technologist at the T.T.C.. He was a proud Hungarian and a very thankful Canadian. First and foremost, Andras was a devoted family man.
Visitation will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre in North York on Thursday May 2, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Friday May 3, 2024 from 10 am to 11 am. A Funeral Service, and reception following, will also be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Friday May 3, 2024 starting at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the Kmecz family wishes that any donations be directed to either Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, the United Hungarian Fund or the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.

It saddens me to hear about the passing of your loving husband/father.
Many heartfelt condolences to Elizabeth, Andrew, and Anita in this time of mourning.
A man endowed with a kind and caring soul that will truly be missed by everyone.
My dad Tony and Andy were close friends and I have many fond memories from childhood family visits together.
If I remember correctly they would endearingly call each other Sonny.
Au revoir Sonny, rest in peace.
