In memory of

Andrejs Dumpe

January 9, 1917 -  November 5, 2019

Andrejs Dumpe was born in the Ukraine on January 9, 1917 to Tatiana and Voldemars. On November 5, 2019 Andrejs passed away at Kristus Darzs Latvian Home, a long term care home in Ontario, Canada at a grand age of 102. Andrejs is predeceased by his wife Margarieta and his brother Oskars. He is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Irene and godchildren Aivars Koskins and Ligita Smith.

Andrejs was astute in business and owned a successful excavating company while at the same time donating much of his time and equipment to his church and friends in need of help. His generosity continued into old age with a very long list of benefactors. His last known donation was to a scholarship fund for students in his beloved Latvia in 2017 when he was already 100 years old.

He loved to sing and his strong, clear voice could be heard above most others at the many social events held at Kristus Darzs. Even with a failing memory, Andrejs still remembered the words to most of his favourite Latvian folk songs.

After the passing of Andrejs wife Margarieta, he lamented many times that he was not able to die at Kristus Darzs because the food was so good and that he was treated so well. Clearly, his longevity has something to do with the care that he received at Kristus Darzs.

For those wishing to honour Andrejs memory, donations can be made to Kristus Darzs Latvian Foundation in Woodbridge, Ontario.
