In memory of

Andreas Smardenkas

February 22, 1933 -  September 13, 2025

Our dad, our dedo, Andreas (Andy) Smardenkas passed away at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Friday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 92, just 13 days after the death of his loving wife of 73 years, Evangelia Smardenkas. We would like to believe he passed away due to a broken heart.
Andy was born in the Village of Sfeta Petka, Lerin Region of Macedonia, on February 22, 1933. He is survived by his sons James (Janneke) and Thomas (Mary), grandchildren Paul (Anna), Rhea, Jennifer (Kevin) and Andrew, and great grandchildren Sofia, James, Austin, Addison and Olivia.
Andy was the proudest Macedonian and a member of the United Macedonians. He loved to hunt and fish and was a long time member of the Ontario Anglers and Hunters Federation. He loved the outdoors with a passion, and when asked if he would like to go hunting/fishing he would simply answer with “What time are we going?” He also had a passion for gardening and would love to share his bounty of peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers with family and friends. Dedo loved and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought the most joy to his life.
He will be remembered for his big smile and warm personality, and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many close friends.
Rest In Peace Andy you are now in the arms of the Lord.
Evangelia is waiting for you with her arms open.

I will always remember my uncle Andy, my dad Harry's older brother, by his infectious laugh, warm smile and gentle demeanor.

I never told him but I always thought he looked a little like Gene Hackman.

Teta Vangelia was waiting for you, so rest easy now uncle Andy.

I will cherish the memory of our visit with you this past August.

Andy was always a happy man and loved to fish and hunt. We always enjoyed our visits with both of them and were blessed they included us in there family. Although it is sad that he has passed away, he is joining Baba 12 days after she passed away. 73 years of marriage, they are together again. What a Love and Live they have shared. Blessing to Both of you.
