In memory of

Andras Juhasz

March 16, 1934 -  June 1, 2020

“The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

The present only is our own,
So live, love, toil with a will,
Place no faith in "Tomorrow,"
For the Clock may then be still.”

We were deeply saddened by the news about the death of Bandi bacsi. We are very sorry for your family's loss - your dad's gentle, kind and friendy demeanour was such a joy to be around. This must be a very difficult time for each of you. Our thoughts are with the Juhasz family. Our heartfelt condolences. Xo

Our families go back to before our time and before both our parents got married. Both our fathers met working in Sault Ste Marie when they first left Hungary in 1957 and then my Mom met Bandi bácsi in Toronto 1962. They remained friends throughout their lives.

My heart is heavy for you and your family and to those of us who knew him. He was not just our friend, but he became our extended family even though our family moved to Michigan and eventually to Florida - Bandi bácsi kept in touch with my Dad to the end as did my Mom with him.

He was our neighbor at the cottage. The summer memories we all shared over our lifetime were priceless. The union breaks, the brunches, the trips down to the locks, the trips to Stanton or Lantern for an ice cream and the pulling us on the “board” and ultimately waterski. Both our fathers loved their time together at their cottages and simply sitting on the porch or dock and being together to chat. We even did the winter treks in from Lantern Marina to the cottage before the road was built. How about the first waterski of the season - usually you could count on Bandi bácsi or my Mom to do it!

I am certain my Dad welcomed him with the rest of the cottagers - Laci K, Ernie, Cliff, Béla N, Béla M, Lacika and many others with a shot of Palinka to start up the union break tradition, once again.

I’d like to think of each thunder roll, as all of them having a union break and breaking into laughter over their timeless conversations.

He will be sorely missed by us and all those who knew him.

Our condolences to your family during this difficult time. Bandi bácsi was always warm and welcoming, inviting us in for drinks and lunches on the cottage porch. As kids we would see him mostly on that porch when visiting our relatives, Erzsi Néni and Vili bácsi, his cottage neighbours. He loved being a good host, even to the chipmunks that would come by for peanuts. I have fond memories of swimming by the cottages and Bandi bácsi taking us for boat rides and tubing, even though we would inevitable fall off once or twice.
He will be missed but not forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers,
