In memory of

Anastasios Tsokanaridis

April 28, 1938 -  April 6, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our dear father, Anastasios (Tassos) Tsokanaridis, of Scarborough, Ontario at the age of 85. Dad passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Tassos was born on April 28, 1938, in Itea, Greece, to Christothoulos and Evangelia. Dad worked extremely hard all his life helping to support his parents and siblings (Dimos and Yianoula) during those post-war years. In 1960, he met Sirmoula Tsotanidou also of Itea, and they wed in 1964, going on to have 2 daughters, Angela and Effie.
As a young couple looking to provide better opportunities for their daughters they ventured on a long journey, making the brave decision to immigrate to Canada in 1970. Dad was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family.
While dad held multiple jobs those early years, he ultimately fell in love with the idea of entrepreneurship eventually starting up Tassos Live Bait. Dad loved his work and the many people he met along the way. Dad enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his passion was gardening, and, his green thumb would yield rich flower beds and gardens every summer.
In 2004, dad proudly became a Pappou to his name-sake Anastasia and 2 and 4 years later to Thalia and Alexia. In January, our parents were fortunate to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Dad lived a full life and while suffering health challenges the last few years he continued to maintain his pride and independence. Dad leaves behind a beautiful legacy and a family exceptionally proud of his love and sacrifice.

Sad to lose a loved one. Unsettling to lose a paret. Your Dad died an admirable man who overcame huge problems in post war Greece/ Europe. He passed on his fierce approach to life to his descendants
My condolences to you, to your mother and family, Effie.
Hugs,

Dear Effie and all your family,

It was an honour to be with all of you and Tasso as he started his journey to crossover. He looked beatifically peaceful and comfortable in his home surrounded by his loving wife, two daughters, and three granddaughters. A better death I cannot imagine than to be surrounded by such love and caring.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Taso was a wonderful father-in-law. I have many great memories that I will cherish forever. He was a great cook, had a great sense of humour and loved his family dearly. I miss him.
