In memory of
Ana Grosu
In loving memory of Ana (Neta) Grosu
Neta passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. She will be missed by her daughter Dana and son-in-law Marius, granddaughter Cristina (Kitty) and husband Tavi and their children Matthew and Michael.
Neta was born in Bran-Brasov, Romania, to Ana and Gheorghe Aldea, on November 15, 1927. She spent her childhood alongside her siblings Culita, Ionel, and Fetita. She came from a hard-working and well-respected family and enjoyed living in the small community of Bran. Living across from the legendary Bran Castle, Neta enjoyed attending ballroom parties hosted by the royal family and the occasional dance with Archduke Anton of Austria. During World War II, she spent time in the company of Princess Ileana of Romania in Moldova while helping with the war effort.
On April 24, 1950, Neta married Iulian Grosu, a refugee from Soviet occupied Cernauti, Tighina. Their only child, daughter Dana, was born on April 11, 1951, and spent her first years in Miercurea Ciuc where the family was deported for political reasons. During this time the family was separated when Iulian was sent to a work camp at Cheile Bicazului. They were eventually reunited again one Christmas night, a Christmas miracle, one might say.
Neta worked at the local hospital in Bran where her husband was a surgeon. They both enjoyed the company of many friends and loved going on hikes and excursions, especially in the surrounding mountains. Neta was passionate about dancing, knitting and enjoyed reading classic novels. After 22 years of marriage, she became a widow at the age of 44, after her husband’s sudden passing. Their marriage and life together were beautiful, albeit short. She dedicated the remainder of her life to her daughter Dana and her only granddaughter, Kitty, whom she helped raise.
Anyone who knew Neta could attest to her beautiful soul. Her love and kindness were immeasurable. Despite what was a tough life at times, Neta lived it fully and wholeheartedly, in the company of those she loved. She was truly an angel on earth.
We will forever love you, Neta dear, and you will always remain in our hearts.
May you be reunited with the loved ones waiting there for you and may your soul rest in peace.
