Amit Kumar Makhija
June 12, 1981-April 12, 2020

Amit Kumar Makhija passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the age of 38 in the ICU at St. Joseph’s Health Center alone... without his family by his side, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Tragically, he spent the last few days of his life without anyone’s comforting touch as he was not allowed any visitors, even at his end of life stage.
Amit is survived by his father, Satish Makhija, his younger brother Sumeet, sister-in-law Emily and nephew Nazario. He is predeceased by his mother Manju Makhija.
In Hindi, Amit’s name means “boundless”. In Hebrew, Amit’s name means “friend”.
Amit certainly lived up to his name.
Amit was an amazingly talented chef and he always loved cooking for his family and friends. He was an avid motorcycle rider who took pride in his bike and loved to ride.

Amit Kumar Makhija will be cremated on:
Tuesday, April 21st, 2020, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Toronto at 10am.
His ashes will then be scattered in the Ganga River in India at a later date.

When the time comes that the pandemic restrictions are lifted, a memorial service will be held to reflect on the person that Amit was and the reasons why he will always be missed.
As there are no funeral services at this time,

Amit, you will be greatly missed! You were always so kind and welcoming to me. You made me laugh every time I was around you. I have prayed for you over the years and I only wish there had been a way to *know* that the last time I talked to you would be the last time. Goodbye old friend. Much love, always!

Dear Sumeet, we are so very sorry for the loss of your brother. We cannot even imagine how you and your father are going through. Such a tragic loss taken way too young.

Love you and our prayers are with you ❤️
